Product Description

CW Newsoy PB
is a 100% plant-based soy wax developed and produced by Candle Works.
Introducing CW New Soy PB, a soy wax with a smooth surface and virtually no frost.
This product is available as an alternative to ECOSOYA PB and is a wax that has been manufactured and tested using various techniques.
It is 100% vegetable wax, hard and durable, so suitable for making silicone molds, pillar candles using PC molds, taper candles and votive candles.
It is a product that compensates for the frosting phenomenon of the candle surface turning white, and can keep the color of the candle surface bright.
To prevent discoloration caused by light, it is recommended to add a UV blocker.
The advantage of hard and dense wax is that it can be used for a long time without collapse when making smaller diameter taper and pillar candles.
Recommended for those who want to make candles with a more complete design.
Point 1. Product content
Sold in units of 1kg, 5kg and 20kg (1 box).
CW New Soy PB is a unique natural color with a slight ivory tint to the wax itself.
When mixing spices, the maximum deflection rate can reach about 10%, and the melting point is also relatively high, so if the wax is poured into a mold at about 80~85℃, you can make a high degree of perfection candles.

Comparative test of soy wax for fillers
CW Newsoy PB | Ecosoya PB
Step 1 | Basic Specifications

CW Newsoy PB
Pillar type
<t7078> >Melting point: 52~58 ℃Pouring temperature: 80~85℃

Ecosoya PB
Pillar type
<t7804> Melting point: 49-54 ℃Pouring temperature: 75-80 ℃
Step2 | Production process (New Soy PB on the left / Eco Soy PB on the right)

Production 1. Weigh the wax
Weigh out 240 grams of wax into a 5 cm x 17 cm PC mold.

2. Color matching
Add 5 drops of black fat-soluble liquid dye for color contrast.

3. Add sesame oil
In order to test the softness, fragrance, etc. of the candle, measure 24g of sesame oil, 10% based on 240g of wax, the temperature is about 85 degrees, and stir evenly.

Production 4. Pour wax
When the temperature of the wax mixed with the sesame oil is 80 degrees, pour the two waxes into the unheated PC mold.

5. Observe hardening (after 1 hour)
On the surface, New Soy PB is also black but more bluish, while Eco Soya PB is more reddish and the color itself looks darker.

6. Observe hardening (after 2 hours)
New Soy PB almost shrinks in the mold and becomes darker in color. The surface of the Ecosoya PB mold has less adhesion, the color is darker than the first type, and traces of frosting and bubbles are visible on the surface.

7. Check the shrinkage
When the degree of shrinkage was confirmed by looking at the upper part of the mold (the lower part of the candle to be completed) without a second pour, the shrinkage was similar for both waxes. It can be seen that the part from PB contacts the mold in a gentle slope.

8. Demold
When 5 hours have passed and the heat from the mold has completely dissipated, separate the candle from the mold. New Soy PB is lightweight and easy to release, while Eco Soya PB releases smoothly and has a slightly greasy feel.
Step 3 | Comparison of wax types

CW Newsoy PB
It has a bright ivory color close to white, feels matte but not greasy when touched by hand, and is a flaky particle type that breaks crisply when crushed by hand.
** Made from natural materials, color may vary each time you wear it.

Ecosoya PB
It is ivory in color and has a greenish feel. It feels frosted when touched by hand and is harder than New Soy when crushed by hand.
** Made from natural materials, color may vary each time you wear it.
Step 4 | Color development, glossiness, matte contrast

CW Newsoy PB
It separates easily from the mold, the glossiness is slightly reduced compared to the original production, only in the tinted candles a slight frosting appears after some time.

Ecosoya PB
The color is bright and the frosting phenomenon is serious when mixing fragrance oil.
Step 5 | Combustion comparison (flavor release and internal shrinkage)

CW Newsoy PB
This is based on the appearance of a No. 2 white cotton wick after burning for 30 minutes and 2 hours. Since there is no secondary expansion, the inside shrinks to create a void, and it burns to the bottom quickly in about 2 hours, with a light fragrance. (Typically, wick length is adjusted so that it does not burn as quickly, but for testing purposes, wick length and flame size were kept constant.)

Ecosoya PB
This is based on the appearance of a No. 2 white cotton wick after burning for 30 minutes and 2 hours. Since there is no secondary expansion, voids are created when the interior contracts, so it burns to the bottom quickly in about 2 hours. (Generally, the wick length is adjusted so it doesn't burn as quickly, but I kept the long wick and flame size the same for testing.)
Step 6 | Test results
Melting point | CW Newsoy PB > Eco Soya PB |
---|---|
Strength | CW Newsoy PB > Eco Soya PB |
Frost phenomenon | CW Newsoy PB << Eco Soya PB |
Glossiness | CW Newsoy PB = Eco Soya PB |
Fragrance | CW Newsoy PB = Eco Soya PB |
Color development | CW Newsoy PB < Eco Soya PB |
