The citronella oil distributed by Candleworks is Javanese citronella oil, which is steam distilled from the fresh or partially dried stems and leaves of Cymbopogon winterianus. Java citronella oil is considered superior to Sri Lankan citronella oil and is grown mainly in Southeast Asia, India, and Central and South America. It is a light yellow to light brown liquid, sweeter than Sri Lanka, with a rose-like fragrance and a strong citrus fragrance due to its high citronellal content.
