Rosemary grows mainly in the Mediterranean basin and was used especially as a flavoring and medicinal plant in ancient Egypt. It has been used as a symbol of love since ancient times, in Roman times it was used as a wedding chaplet and even later in religious ceremonies. The rosemary plant is a very elegant shrub with many slender leaves that can reach up to one meter in height when fully grown. Just gently rub the dark green needle-shaped leaves with your palms to release a very fragrant herbal scent. Rosemary blooms year-round, with small pale blue to lavender flowers blooming from the branches, and is often included in the harvest. Plants cut for oil production are dried for a day or two before distillation.

Rosemary essential oil is mainly divided into Spanish type and Moroccan type. They are classified according to the ingredients contained in the plant essence. The two types differ in terms of scent and aromatherapy effect. The Spanish type is composed of more camphor, giving off a more fragrant aromatic herbal scent. It is also preferred when using natural perfumes. It is known to help relieve muscle aches and pains. Moroccan type, also known as cineole type, is thought to be beneficial to the respiratory system due to its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects and helps promote hair growth through blood circulation.
